Some people have that ‘glow’ when their pregnant. That well rested, I don’t need to apply highlighter because I already look fabulous glow.
I’m not one of them. With both of my babies, my hormones have gone all out of whack and my skin turns into a disaster area. I look tired and I have tiny pimples all over.. Ugh. I didn’t even have bad skin as a teenager. But what can you do? It’s just one of those things that comes along with growing a human.
The only thing I CAN do is balance my complexion and try to minimize any further breakouts. I stay well hydrated and apply skin care morning and night, and foundation that I know works. Pregnant or not, these products are my all time favorite.
At night I wash my face with Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Cloud Cream Cleanser. It’s a cream base cleanser that goes on smoothly, takes my make-up off easily, and leaves my skin feeling clean and soft. I was informed by my esthetician that I have large pores (which usually happens when you have oily skin) but my skin was very dry. She recommended that I switch from the gel based cleaner I was using to a cream base. I did, and bam! My skin changed overnight. My pores are smaller and my skin doesn’t look thirsty.
I follow up with Peter Thomas Roth’s Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream to add an extra dose of hydration while I sleep. Hydrating the skin diminishes the look of fine lines and wrinkles leaving your skin looking younger. Who doesn’t want that?
In the morning I use Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream. There is a reason people swear by this stuff. It is pure heaven rubbed all over your face. I didn’t believe the hype until I stopped by the Nordstrom counter and tried a drop on the palm of my hand. You could see a difference from one hand to the other instantly. I kid you not. It’s a little on the pricey side, but a little goes a long way and I promise you won’t be disappointed.
After I’ve given Charlotte a minute to work her magic (see what I did there) it’s time for foundation. I tried YSL’s Touche Eclate foundation for the first time years ago. I loved it then and I still love it now. A month or so ago I decided to break out of my bubble and try a few other foundations but there was just no comparison, and I once again found myself at the Sephora counter buying my tried and true. The YSL Touche Eclate goes on smoothly, covers imperfections, and doesn’t leave me looking like I have a mound of foundation on my face.
Last, is something that I need now more than ever. I wouldn’t consider myself someone that has dark circles under their eyes, but working full time, taking care of my family, and running after a toddler leaves me needing a little help in the area. I was watching a beauty blogger do a makeup tutorial on YouTube one day and she recommended Maybellines Instant Age Rewind concealer. She’s much tanner than I am and said she used the lightest shade, not because that is her shade persay but because that’s what she preferred. Naturally, that’s the shade I tried as well. It works! I’ve found that some concealers can be a little heavy which makes them more noticeable. This one offers good coverage and goes on silky smooth.
